The District of Kitimat announced on Thursday, March 26, 2025, that former mayor Joanne Monahgan has died.
Monaghan joined Kitimat Council in 1980 as Alderman (a title later changed to Councillor) and served the community with distinction for decades. She is Kitimat’s first female Mayor, holding the role from 2008 until 2014.

The clear weather continues. Woke up again just before 6 am. The moon, 88.9 per cent waning gibbous was right over Douglas Channel. Rather than go outside, I just grabbed my Alpha 55 with the Tamron 70-300 which I keep by my deck for bird photography and shot through my bedroom window.
