My Star Trek 20th posters

Robin Rowland
A 1986 Star Trek 20th anniversary poster, with sales on videocasette.

Much of the world is celebrating Star Trek’s Sixtieth Anniversary today, September 8, 2026.

In Canada, Star Trek actually launched two days earlier on September 6, 1966. In the days before cable and Canadian network substitutions many US shows were broadcast in Canada before they were broadcast in the United States.

I obtained the posters at a Star Trek media promotional event in Montreal, while on an unrelated assignment for CBC while I worked for the Teletext Project Iris. The casettes were released on October 14, 1986 so the event must have been a few days later. At that time Star Trek episodes were offered on both VHS and Beta tapes, before Beta was taken off the market.

The second poster advertised the original Star Trek pilot, “The Cage.”

The Cage was later re-edited and became the two part Star Trek episode The Menagerie.

The mounted posters are now in my home theatre.
