Kitimat’s spring blizzard
The end of March 2026 in Kitimat has been nasty. Rather than slowly becoming springlike we’ve had snow storm after snow storm, with the latest (after the spring equinox) was more like a blizzard in January or February.
In memory former mayor Joanne Monaghan
The District of Kitimat announced on Thursday, March 26, 2025, that former mayor Joanne Monahgan has died. Monaghan joined Kitimat Council in 1980 as Alderman (a title later changed to Councillor) and served the community with distinction for decades.
